The old school tags for your luggage. I am not sure if you know what I am referring to here but I will explain in just a little bit. I have been writing some articles to show you what is out there but I need to let you know that I have not forgotten the original.

That is what I am talking about when I say ‘old school’ luggage tags. I mean the original little tags that you got when you purchased some luggage. Nothing fancy, just very basic and to the point and put on there because the manufacturer just has to put them on there as a luggage making duty.

If you have never see one of these, let me try to illustrate them with words as much as possible but pointing out different parts.

The Shape - these were sometimes oval but usually a small rectangle with rounded edges.

The Look - whatever the material and color of your luggage, you would be sure to have beautifully matching tags to go with it.

Privacy - Some of these luggage tags had a small flap, made of the same material as everything else that was your luggage, covering the plastic window that showed your information. Some and not all. Not very private because that flap was usually rolled up and away or sticking out and not covering anything.

Details - There is always the simple and standard four lines. Name on one line, address on two lines and one line for a telephone number. All of these fields were always too short for what you needed to write on them so you had to write really small or not at all.

Quality - as mentioned earlier, the privacy flap did not really do much and therefore did not do its job and that is bad quality. The other piece is the piece of paper used to write your details on. It was easy to get out but so difficult to put back in that you ended up crushing it or folding it inside so it was useless. And the little plastic protector that went over it was totally removable and easily movable. It often got lost or thrown out.

As you can see, the supplied tags on luggages have so many issues with them that you just have to buy your own ones. You want quality and privacy and a really good usage out of them and the old school ones just do not compare at all.
